LIFE COACHING
What is Life Coaching?
The objective of life coaching is to assist individuals in moving forward and taking action in living out their hearts deepest desires. Keelin is a behavioural psychologist who is trained in third-wave cognitive behavioural therapies such as dialectical behaviour therapy, and compassion focused therapy. Her coaching approach encourages coachee's to cultivate an accepting and self- compassionate stance towards one's self and one's difficulties. By responding to our emotional pain in this manner, we become more psychologically flexible, which assists us in taking committed action towards living their dreams.
Life coaching emphasises setting goals that are in alignment with your values and helps you to commit and follow through with behaviours that will help you to achieve those goals. Life coaching has widely demonstrated effectiveness in increasing mental wellbeing, personal flourishing, emotional intelligence, and emotional regulation. The tools and exercises utilised in this coaching approach will help you live a full, vibrant, and meaningful life!
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT DOES LIFE COACHING LOOK LIKE IN PRACTICE?
Life coaching is a solution-focused collaborative approach that typically takes between 8-12 weeks (however coaching can be extended based on the coachee's needs)
A quality coach will do the following:
Ask profound questions that will get you thinking about your life more intently rather than “selling” answers
Notice and champion their coachee's strengths, positive qualities, resources, and ability to solve their own problems
Work with what people can do rather than focusing on what they cannot do
Recognise behaviours a client is already engaging in that are helpful and effective and find new ways to encourage problem-solving through these behaviours
Focus on the details of the solution instead of the problem;
Develop action plans that work in their coachee's best interests
WHAT TO EXPECT
Values guided living is the essence of life coaching; one of the primary steps is to identify and clarify your values. The coaching will begin by questioning what you hope to get out of your sessions and how, specifically, your life would change when steps were taken to resolve problems.
By answering these types of questions, you can begin to identify solutions and come up with a plan for change. This opens up your mind to creative thinking and, again, to setting goals and developing a clear plan that will lead to living a more purposeful life.
Throughout your coaching journey, you will learn mindfulness skills that will assist you in living and behave in ways consistent with personal values while developing psychological flexibility.
Your coach will help you recognise ways in which your attempts to manage, suppress, and control emotional experiences create challenges. By recognising and addressing these challenges, you will become better able to make room for values-based actions that will support your well-being.
